Flip turns your Android into a dumb phone in one tap — the real transformation, not a block screen

problem

Attention has become the scarcest resource of modern life. People pick up their phones hundreds of times a day, lose hours they didn't mean to spend, and feel worse for it. A whole generation has started romanticizing dumb phones for a reason: the Nokia in the drawer didn't make anyone anxious. But almost nobody actually switches, because smartphones aren't just distraction machines — they're also maps, delivery apps, boarding passes, and the family group chat. The cost of going back is too high. Meanwhile, the apps built to solve this — focus timers, app blockers, screen-time dashboards — add their own friction: routines inside sessions inside profiles, configuration labyrinths people give up on in the first five minutes. Even the ones that work only shield distracting apps; they don't actually change the phone. People end up with the same device and a guilt-inducing timer on top. What they actually want is simpler and more radical: give me the dumb phone back, completely, just for a while.

solution

Flip turns your phone into a dumb phone in one tap — for real. Not a shield, not a blocker, not a timer layered on top of what you already have. An actual transformation. Tap once, and Flip takes over your home screen: a minimalist layout with just the clock, the date, and the handful of essentials you actually need — calls, texts, maps, camera, wallet, authenticator, delivery apps, transport apps. Everything else disappears. Notifications for noisy apps go silent. The phone literally looks and feels like a different device. Tap again, and your smartphone comes back exactly where you left it — every app, every notification, every setting. Built for Android, where Flip can become the phone's front door and deliver what every focus app has promised but none have delivered: a real dumb phone, on demand, in your pocket.

Flip started the way most honest products do — as a frustrated user. After spending real time with focus apps and the rest of the category, the insight that unlocked everything was realizing we'd been thinking about it wrong. People don't want a better focus app. They want their dumb phone back — just for a bit, without buying a new one. Nobody had simply built that. Flip is the version we wished existed.
