Lume is the YouTube for kids that actually teaches them — AI-curated videos paired with quizzes that turn learning into the currency for more content

problem

YouTube is the #1 platform for young kids today — and parents know it. But the choice it forces is broken: the main app is a free-for-all where algorithm-driven rabbit holes push kids toward content that's addictive at best and harmful at worst, while YouTube Kids swings the other way — a walled garden so restrictive and uninspiring that kids quickly bounce back to the main app. In between, there's nothing. Parents are left hovering over their kids' shoulders, rationing screen time out of guilt, and quietly accepting that "entertainment time" and "learning time" are two separate things.

solution

Lume fills that gap. It's a standalone mobile app where every video is vetted by AI — not just for safety, but for genuine educational value — so parents can trust what their kids are watching, and kids actually get content worth their time. After each video, a quick quiz turns watching into learning: kids earn points by showing what they absorbed, and those points unlock more content. It flips the usual screen-time dynamic on its head — instead of parents rationing access, engagement becomes the gate. The more kids learn, the more they explore. Safe by design, expansive by intent, and built so that screen time finally feels like time well spent.

Lume started the way most honest products do — from lived frustration. As Wayn CEO and a parent, and after dozens of conversations with other parents navigating the same daily battle, one thing became impossible to ignore: YouTube is the #1 platform for young kids, yet no real solution exists for the millions of families stuck between "too open" and "too restricted." Lume is the product we wished existed for our own kids.
